| What are the facilities & maintenance updates since the last meeting? | Cheryl Sears | Cheryl Sears updated the Council on facility projects: 1) Howard Hall flooring is completed; 2) Facilities Management (FM) assigned a planner to provide a "to scale" plan to redo the gymnasium floor, tear out the old bleachers saving the metal benches for repurposing throughout campus. |

| What is the progress on the Wayfinders work? What feedback does the Council have for the Wayfinders? | Cheryl Sears | Cheryl Sears reported that the Wayfinders are close to finalizing the zones, colors, and symbols: green/oak tree or leaf; yellow orange/light bulb or sun; blue/wave or river; and red/heart. Paramedics area and Printing Services' move is going forward adding a sign manufacturing component to provide new building signs, new monument signs and other campus signage from our own facility. Wayfinders has completed their work, and have stopped meeting. All will move forward before the end of this semester. |

| What are the safety updates since the last meeting? | Captain Chris Day | Cheryl Sears reported for Captain Day that the new bridge is under water from the rains. Fire drills will be held next Thursday and the following Wednesday with evacuation routes given out. Campus police will be present, and the first evacuations will affect 7 buildings with an additional 7 buildings, and then Natomas Outreach Center. Solar trailers on campus supplied by DC Solar who is out of business. The solar trailer at the Natomas Outreach Center was stolen. |

| What are the technology updates since the last meeting? | Jeff Bucher | Jeff Bucher gave the IT update that the Outlook exchange migration will be completed as of March 20, then Windows 10 implementation is next. If your phone doesn't work now, try downloading the exchange app. Olga Prizhbilov and Jeff Bucher volunteered to train and provide resources for converting to Windows 10 for classified professionals through the Classified Senate forum. |

| What are the updates on the professional development work since the last meeting? | Olga Prizhbilov | Olga Prizhbilov gave the Professional Development update. The Classified Senate met with Dean of Equity Programs & Pathways Joshua Johnson about implementing a mini NCORE (National Conference on Race & Ethnicity) as a long-term plan, and in the near future a one day conference in June is being planned. There are 50 classified employees who are 9, 10 or 11-month employees who may be off during the summer and could not attend. A suggestion was made to charge a fee for attendance and open the one-day conference to others. |

| Indigeneous Land Statement Follow Through: How can ARC institutionalize Indigeneous Land Statement? | Jesus Valle |
Guests: Professor Jesus Valle, Director, and Rena Horse, Student Personnel Assistant in the Native Resource Center, presented an Indigenous Land Statement to the Council giving the background of the mining industry and laws from the 1850's as they relate to the enslavement of California Native people, specifically Miwok and Maidu, on the land on which ARC sits. They advocate for the removal of a mining display that is viewed as representing violence again humans and the earth. The Native American Resource Center at American River College is advocating for a Maidu/Miwok Memorial and a curriculum-based program such as the Pomo Pathways Program in Mendocino, California. Professor Valle and Ms. Horse asked for the endorsement of the Council and suggested a multi-year plan. Operations Council members want the mining display originators to be identified, possibly the Patron's Club, and notified about the possible removal of the display and be given the opportunity to move it. Discussion of what would be best practices regarding installations on campus included developing criteria and strategies. Sarah Mattson indicated that the Art Committee has developed criteria, and will provide the Bylaws at our next meeting. |

Cheryl Sears reports that Operations department personnel from all four Los Rios' colleges met with Facilities Management (FM) to discuss what to call the single stall all gender restrooms. The recommendation from this group is to label them "Restroom." Another group produced a flyer called "Gender Inclusive Bathroom Location," and posted them on the single stall restrooms on the ARC campus without following signage protocol. Cheryl Sears met with the group to discuss the District signage protocol, and the flyers were taken down. The Council discussed the difference between marketing/communication to constituencies versus actual protocols. The motivation of the flyer group was a concern, and Cheryl will reopen dialogue with them to be sure their needs have been addressed. |
