Three proposed layouts for Portable Village 3 (PV3) were shared. Existing number of classrooms considered is 46 (which is total lost in Davies) and 90 offices.

Proposed layouts are located on northeast side of campus on Myrtle Ave side. Location picked was due to consideration size of portable, electrical, and utilities (water & sewer). Concern with this location would be parking and walking distance from parking garage.

A recommendation for PV3 to be located in the south side of campus. Concerns would be access to utilities. 

Another proposed idea is to put in front of Operations building but this location would be too close to Davies Hall. 

Two story portables were suggested but may take longer.

Layouts will need to be reviewed by local fire through DSA then it will move forward.

From FM:

The STEM elevator manufacturer is Kone, a commonly used elevator specified in many buildings. 

Regarding the entrapment that occurred:
There are various reasons as to causes. Entrapments happen in all types of elevators, not just Kone. When elevator techs get a call notifying them of an entrapment the goal is to get the individual out. Typically they are able to get people out immediately by picking the door and resetting the remote governor. However, in ARC’s instance, the unique design of the door operator prevented the tech from being able to pick the door. In addition, the remote governor could not be reset. The techs later found that a drive board needed replacement as well. Depending on the scenario and the method used to get the individual out, further damage may occur. Sometimes the damages that resulted might be minimal and the unit can be inspected and the unit is returned to service immediately, but in other times (such as the one at STEM) the damage can be extensive and  the extent of the damage dictates the timeline of repair and return to service. Understanding the impact, this was handled and processed as an emergency PO. Everyone on the team understood the urgency of this and FM asked a contractor to come out and do the repairs in conjunction with licensed elevator technicians. The board has since been replaced. The length of time to return to service was due to repair of the shaft which was a fire rated assembly and FM did treat the repair as an emergency and as such were able to return to service earlier than anticipated despite the Holiday break during the process.

Regarding the reoccurring shaking:
In speaking to Kone, one of the items Kone mentioned is that when the unit has been sitting unused for a specific amount of time (as it was during COVID when the building was unused for 2 years) there is a possibility that the glides and pulleys end up with an “indentation” or flatten over lack of use. This could be attributing to the shaking that is being felt when moving.  FM was currently working on seeing if it was possible to convert the existing glides, to replace them with a conversion kit. FM even scheduled a specific meeting with Kone leaders to address this specific concern. However, Kone did not allow FM to purchase a conversion kit.

Working flyers regarding safety precautions ie. leaving packages in cars, looking up while walking, don’t leave anything visible in the car

Football and Volleyball Teams moving to state finals; cars will be parked on campus over the weekend

Project Updates
AT&T Cell Tower at Stadium 
o	Awaiting schedule on delivery date of mounting hardware for MUSCO lighting. 
o	Projected completion December 2023.

Athletics Streaming Infrastructure
o	Project is complete. 
Sand Volleyball
o	Pending further instruction and budget string for design process. 

Astroturf Synthetic Softball Field
o	Bioswale outfall is in conflict with sewer line. The new design for the outfall is in progress and will be provided to the contractor. Perimeter concrete is 97% complete. 

Davies Hall Closure & Portable Village 3
o	Perimeter fence design is proposed.
o	Potential location for Portable Village 3 was identified in the Northeast corner of the campus. 
o	Utility investigation has commenced. 

Foam Roofing Bid Packages 1 & 2
o	Installation of blocking and detailing is ongoing. 
o	Projected completion January 2024.

Natomas Center Phase II & III
o	Footing placement, excavation, backfill of under slab utilities is ongoing. 
o	Projected campus move-in January 2025. 

Pool Replastering
o	Replastering is complete. 
o	New diving board and chair lifts have been ordered.

Tech Ed Modernization
o	Project is 44% complete. Contractor continues with installation of concrete block walls, steel stud walls and soffit framing, HVAC duct installation, plumbing, electrical rough-in, site paving and grading, and painting of structure.
o	Projected completion February 2025.

Veterans Resource Center
o	Plans returned from DSA with access comments. The design team has researched and provided needed documents. Concern over HVAC design prompted a meeting to review controls and existing system. 

Lower Library Restoration
o	Project has to be publicly bid for the restoration. 
o	Estimated start of work January 8, 2024.

Respiratory Care Move to McClellan Safety Center
o	Expected move of equipment end of Fall semester 2023. 
o	Flooring changes may be delayed – pending asbestos report.
