Approaching the Educational Master Plan Thomas Greene Thomas Greene kicked off our meeting by outlining the vision for this project in relation to our campus and college district. Our institution is built on the assumption that change is incremental and the future is predictable, however that is no longer true. It has never been more important to actively engage in trying to predict what the 21st century teaching environment will look like. What the world of work will look like. And what online education will look like.

You can already see this shift happening in CA. One example that we see is through integration of departments and Apprenticeship, modeling programs in both Germany and Switzerland where they creating a more "scholarly apprentice". How do we replicate/design this type of education? How do we provide a pathway to a livable education/skill and ground that in education?

This committee should focus on the bigger picture rather than getting into the weeds. These recommendations will not be concrete, rather the goal is to create a living document.
Project Overview: - Project Charter: What does the project involve? - Project scope - Timeline and deliverables - Proposed structure for the Educational Master Plan Frank Kobayashi & Gary Aguilar Frank Kobayashi addressed the committee regarding the project overview. The intent of this committee is to identify the things that may be disruptive or that we will need to respond to as an Educational Institution. This type of plan has not been created before, so there is no model to follow. With that in mind, everyone on this committee has been chosen based on their expertise and the specific lens they will contribute to the overall plan.

The expectations for participating in the committee will include training in September for all project members. As well as biweekly meeting beginning in September and concluding at the end of October. The meeting schedule will be posted in BaseCamp, and added to Outlook.

Gary Aguilar addressed the committee regarding the proposed structure for this project. As a committee we will be focusing on how automation will impact workforce needs? How will those needs impact the way that students work/learn? How do these changes apply to the college in a meaningful way? How do these changes relate to your specific lens?

Gary and Frank will continue with meetings this summer to work on developing structure for the Educational Master Plan. This project will help set the tone of the college for the next 14 years.
